Do you realize how special you are?
There is no one else on Earth (and there never will be) who has your exact talents, dreams, personality, and voice.
All the crazy ideas you have, all your wildest fantasies, all the ups-and-downs of emotions, are unique to you.
Yet, too many of us are living a life that could be anyone’s.
We’re spending our days the same way anyone else could.
We’re going through the motions. We’re wasting time on our screens. We’re doing the bare minimum and killing time until tomorrow.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if you spent more of your days doing things that only YOU can do?
Imagine if, at the end of each day, the world had more of what you created.
There are so many things that only you can do, in your way:
- Paint a picture, even if you’re not an artist. Take a photograph of something you find beautiful.
- Write a song; write a poem. Write that book you’ve been dreaming about.
- Be a parent to your kids in your way.
- Work as a teacher, cashier, engineer, manager, employee, or whatever in the way that only you can.
- Start a business that you’ve designed.
You’re the only one that can!

If Not You…
Even though there are an infinite number of ways to make your unique imprint on the world, it’s all too easy to get sucked into things that don’t actually require “you” at all.
Here are some activities that require “less” of you and your uniqueness… things that, for the most part, anyone else could do in exactly the same way.
- Watching TV
- Watching an influencer’s reels
- Scrolling on Reddit or Twitter (but not contributing to any conversations)
- Reading the news that is suggested to you, and not doing anything about it
- Mindlessly seeing promoted posts and ads for people that you don’t know on Instagram
Of course, as humans, the reality of life is that there are some things we have to do that are not very unique to us. We have to put on clothes. We have to eat and sleep. We have to do the tedious tasks at work. I guess, technically, anyone could do those things.
There’s a time and place for consumption, rest, and jumping through the hoops of being human.
But I still think we can do more of the things that make us uniquely us. Even with activities that don’t seem so creative or unique at first glance.
For instance…
Anyone can pump gas for their car, but only you can spend the five minutes it takes to pump gas looking around and thinking about all the things you’re grateful for in your life.
Anyone can scroll on Pinterest, but only you can choose to be inspired by something specific, put your phone down, and take action to change your life (even if it’s something as small as painting your nails pink).
Anyone can watch an episode of The Office, but only you can watch it while snuggled up with your partner, laughing together and bonding over the funny lines you know you’ll be quoting to each other later.
Anyone can watch a video suggested to them by the YouTube algorithm, but only you can think, “I feel like learning about [fill in the blank] today,” then search for a video specifically related to that.
Anyone can scroll on Facebook, but only you can craft a personalized message or comment to a friend, telling them what you admire about them.
When you do these things, you put more YOU into the universe, rather than go through the motions of a life that anyone else could be living.
So, when you’re trying to decide how to spend your time today, think, “Is this something that only I can do?”

Do more of what only you can do.
Don’t deprive the world of all the wonderful, amazing, unique things that only YOU can do.
The world needs what you, and only you, can do.
Best of luck!
